A ceremony was held on Thursday at the headquarters of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) in Rabat, marking the 70th anniversary of their establishment.
Chaired by Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, FAR Inspector General and Commander of South Zone, the ceremony was marked by the raising of the national colors and the reading of the Order of the Day addressed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of FAR, to officers, non-commissioned officers and privates.
In the Order of the Day, the Sovereign underlined that the celebration of the 70th FAR anniversary is “an occasion of profound significance in our country’s history, representing a national epic through which I recall, with pride and esteem, the evolution of this solid national institution, as well as the commendable actions and enormous sacrifices it continuously makes to ensure that Morocco remains a safe country, safeguarding its territorial integrity.”
HM the King commended “the achievements made during the previous period, while emphasizing the need to continue working to promote Our Armed Forces and further develop them so that they may continuously keep pace with the world’s profound changes.”
The Sovereign also hailed ” the active and central role that the Royal Armed Forces have taken on since their creation in securing and protecting Our land, sea, and air borders, as well as their commitment, in accordance with My Highest Instructions, to contributing to rescue and relief operations, providing care and aid to affected populations, whenever necessary.”
In this context, HM the King lauded the “Moroccan humanitarian feat, featuring combined efforts of central and local administration and civil society to proactively launch rescue and relief operations, to which units from the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, the National Security Agency, the Auxiliary Forces, and Civil Protection participated, with meticulous planning and coordination to evacuate residents of Ksar El Kébir and several villages in the Gharb region, which were surrounded by floods, while ensuring their accommodation and providing them with the necessary aid.”
The Sovereign further praised “the laudable efforts of the medical and paramedical teams operating in the military field hospitals and military logistics units, which I ordered to be deployed to some remote and mountainous areas of the provinces of Azilal, Al Haouz, and Midelt in response to the consequences of adverse weather conditions, which left a heartening impact on the spirits of Our loyal subjects.”
In parallel with these efforts, HM the King underlined ” the outstanding achievements of the military service, which plays a major role in bolstering the spirit of citizenship and belonging to the Homeland, while instilling the values of solidarity, mutual aid, discipline, and responsibility in our Moroccan youth.”
“In this regard, I have worked to adopt a comprehensive approach, based on the modernization of teaching, supervision, and training methods, while strengthening partnerships with public administrations and institutions, in order to develop the skills required of conscripts in new technical specializations that meet our country’s current professional needs and expectations in areas of vocational training and employment,” HM the King noted.
On this occasion, several officers, non-commissioned officers and privates were decorated with Wissams which were awarded to them by HM the King, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the FAR.
The ceremony was also marked by the organization of a military parade in which detachments of the Headquarters Battalion under the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces took part.
This event is an opportunity to underscore the major accomplishments achieved by the FAR, since their creation in 1956 by the late HM King Mohammed V, setting it up as a model of operational efficiency, strategic innovation and international influence for an institution resolutely committed to modernization and which continues to embody, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the FAR, the supreme values of loyalty, discipline and dedication.
In addition to their commitment to defending the Kingdom’s security, stability and territorial integrity, and to safeguarding the life, health and well-being of its citizens, the FAR continue to play their humanitarian and solidarity-based role in times of natural catastrophes and exceptional circumstances.
