The United States has called on Algeria to work toward a final resolution of the Sahara dispute, underscoring the urgency of settling the long-running conflict to ensure regional stability.
The message was conveyed during a meeting between Massad Boulos, a U.S. presidential adviser, and Sabri Boukadoum, Algeria’s ambassador to Washington, in the presence of Mark Shapiro, the U.S. chargé d’affaires.
According to a statement shared by Boulos on his official account on the social media platform X, the talks reviewed the outcomes of a recent visit by the U.S. deputy secretary of state and the commander of U.S. Africa Command to Algeria, which was described as successful.
Discussions also focused on strengthening economic ties between the two countries, which currently include more than 120 American companies operating in Algeria, as well as exploring opportunities to expand investments in the energy sector and other fields.
On the security and political front, both sides stressed the importance of deepening regional cooperation to address shared challenges. The U.S. side emphasized that the time has come to reach a definitive solution to the Western Sahara conflict, a move it said would contribute to greater stability across the region.
