A small aircraft crashed late Thursday near the town of Wimberley, southwest of Austin, killing all five people on board, a local official said.
The crash occurred around 11 p.m. local time, according to a Facebook post by Hayes County Judge Ruben Becerra.
Authorities said the aircraft was a Cessna 421C. Preliminary information suggests the plane was traveling at high speed before it went down in the small Texas community.
The crash site is located about 64 kilometers southwest of Austin.
Officials have not yet released the identities of the victims, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Emergency responders secured the area following the incident, while federal aviation authorities are expected to lead the investigation into what caused the aircraft to go down.
