AS FAR Rabat took a major step toward the CAF Champions League final on Saturday, beating fellow Moroccan side RS Berkane 2 to 0 in the first leg of their semi final at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
After a cautious first half with few clear chances, AS FAR broke through in the 58th minute when Ahmed Hammoudan opened the scoring, before Khalid Ait Ouarkhane doubled the lead in the 80th with a powerful strike.
Berkane struggled to mount a response after falling behind, allowing the hosts to control the second half and protect their advantage heading into the return leg.
The second leg is scheduled for April 18 at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane, where RS Berkane will need to overturn a two goal deficit to keep their campaign alive.
