A Moroccan man in his late twenties was killed in a stabbing in east London’s Shadwell district, according to Hespress sources, while British police continue to investigate the attack without officially confirming the victim’s nationality.
Metropolitan Police said officers were called at around 4:01 p.m. on April 7 to reports of an assault on Watney Street, where they found a man with knife wounds.
He was taken to hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries. A second man, in his 50s, was also injured and remains hospitalized with non life threatening wounds.
Hespress, citing informed sources, identified the victim as a Moroccan national who had migrated to the United Kingdom irregularly, a detail not included in official British statements.
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have launched a murder investigation and said no arrests had been made at the time of the initial appeal. Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams said officers were working to establish the full circumstances of what he described as a “tragic death” and urged witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward.
The case has drawn attention in Moroccan media, highlighting risks faced by some migrants abroad, while the investigation in London remains focused on identifying suspects and reconstructing the events leading to the killing.
