Casablanca stock rises for the week as investors pile into banks and miners

The Casablanca Stock Exchange ended the week of March 30 to April 3 higher, with its benchmark MASI index gaining 1.71 percent to close at 17,514.8 points, according to market data on Friday.

The MASI 20, which tracks 20 listed blue chips, rose 0.66 percent to 1,316.88 points, while the MASI ESG advanced 2.7 percent to 1,216.37 and the MASI Mid and Small Cap added 1.48 percent to 1,802.08.

Weekly turnover exceeded 1.9 billion dirhams, largely on the central equity market, with Attijariwafa Bank, Managem and TGCC among the most actively traded stocks, while total market capitalisation stood above 987.3 billion dirhams.

Mining stocks led the gains, with SMI, Managem and CMT among the strongest performers, while Lesieur Cristal and M2M Group were among the week’s biggest fallers.
