Morocco’s National Adoul Authority said it will launch an open ended nationwide suspension of services from April 13 and stage a sit in outside Parliament the same day, escalating its standoff with the government over draft law 16.22 governing the profession.
In a statement , the authority said the move followed weeks of protests and what it called a failure by the government to respond to its demands or open serious talks.
The latest escalation follows earlier work stoppages on Feb. 18 and 19, then from March 2 to 10, and again from March 18 to April 5, as adouls protested the draft law’s adoption without what they say is proper consideration of their proposals and parliamentary amendments.
The authority warned the government would bear responsibility for disruption to document authentication services and citizens’ interests if the crisis continues.
