Morocco’s weather service has issued an orange alert for strong winds and dust carrying gusts expected to reach 80 to 100 km/h on Monday across 12 provinces, as a new bout of unstable spring weather sweeps through parts of the kingdom.
The Directorate General of Meteorology said the alert will run from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and will affect Azilal, Chichaoua, Al Haouz, Marrakech, Essaouira, Inezgane Ait Melloul, Chtouka Ait Baha, Tiznit, Taroudant, Agadir Ida Ou Tanane, Sidi Ifni and Guelmim.
The forecast points to widespread blowing dust and reduced visibility in exposed areas, particularly across inland Atlantic zones, the High Atlas foothills and the southwest. The alert comes as Moroccan forecasters warn of a broader spring weather shift marked by stronger winds and more unstable conditions after a relatively calm spell.
