Morocco is expected to see unsettled weather on Friday, the first day of Eid al Fitr, with rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and snowfall forecast in several parts of the country.

The General Directorate of Meteorology said relatively cold conditions would persist over the Atlas and Rif mountains, while rain and thundery showers, possibly with hail, were expected over the High and Middle Atlas, Saiss, the phosphate plateaus and Oulmès.

Other showers were forecast over the northern and central plains, the Souss region and the Rif, with light rain also possible in the north of the Oriental region and the northwest of the southern provinces.

Snowfall was expected on the peaks of the High Atlas, while fairly strong wind gusts were forecast in the southern provinces, the southeast, the south of the Oriental region, the Atlas mountains, Tangier, the Mediterranean coast and the central plains, with local blowing dust possible.

Minimum temperatures were expected to range from minus 1 to 6 degrees Celsius in the Atlas and from 11 to 15 degrees in most other areas, while seas were forecast to be rough to very rough in the Mediterranean, the Strait and along the Atlantic coast.
