Morocco’s King Mohammed VI will perform the Eid al Fitr prayer on Friday, March 20, at the Ahl Fes mosque in the Mechouar district of Rabat, the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery said.
In a statement, the ministry said the king, as Amir Al Mouminine, would perform the prayer on 1 Shawwal 1447 AH, corresponding to March 20, 2026.
The Eid prayer will be broadcast live on radio and television from 1000 local time, the statement said.
The announcement came hours after Morocco’s Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs said the Shawwal crescent had been sighted, making Friday the first day of Eid al Fitr in the kingdom.
