Moroccan police have arrested a 63-year-old Indonesian national in Marrakech who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by authorities in Indonesia.

The suspect was detained Tuesday by Morocco’s National Judicial Police Brigade, working in coordination with local police services in Marrakech, according to authorities.

A background check through the database of INTERPOL revealed that the man was internationally wanted under a Red Notice issued at the request of the organization’s National Central Bureau in Jakarta.

Indonesian authorities suspect him of involvement in financial corruption and major market manipulation in the country’s capital markets.

Following his arrest, the suspect was placed under extradition procedures in accordance with instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office. The Interpol Rabat, which operates under Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security, has notified its Indonesian counterpart of the arrest as part of the extradition process.

Moroccan authorities said the operation reflects the country’s continued commitment to international security cooperation, particularly in tracking and arresting individuals wanted globally for transnational crime.
