Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology has issued an orange level alert for strong winds accompanied by sandstorms or blowing dust from Friday through Saturday in several southern provinces.
In a weather bulletin released Friday at 11:32 a.m., the agency said wind gusts ranging between 75 and 85 km per hour are expected in Tan Tan, Assa Zag, Boujdour, Laayoune, Tarfaya and Smara from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday.
The same weather phenomenon is forecast to continue on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Assa Zag, Tarfaya, Laayoune, Smara, Tata, Boujdour and Zagora, the agency said.
The orange alert level indicates potentially dangerous weather conditions that could disrupt transport and outdoor activities, particularly in exposed desert areas where reduced visibility from dust may pose additional risks.
