Ferry services between Tarifa in Spain and Tangier in Morocco were suspended on Thursday and are expected to remain disrupted on Friday due to adverse weather caused by Storm Nils, authorities said.

Officials at the Port of Algeciras confirmed that only the first ferry, scheduled to depart Tarifa at 9 a.m. Thursday, operated as planned, while all subsequent crossings were canceled.

The disruptions are expected to continue Friday at Tarifa, whereas the Port of Algeciras will maintain all scheduled sailings, including those connecting to Tangier.

According to the Spanish State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), light rain is expected in the Strait of Gibraltar region on Thursday until 6 p.m. No official weather warnings have been issued, though conditions are likely to worsen on Friday, with thunderstorms and strong westerly winds reaching up to 40 kilometers per hour.
