One person was taken into custody and an investigation was underway Monday after an incident caused property damage at the Ohio residence of Vice President JD Vance, authorities said, according to CNN.
The vice president and his family were not in Ohio at the time of the incident, according to the U.S. Secret Service and a spokesperson for Vance, CNN reported.
Photos published by local media showed broken windows at the residence. A Secret Service spokesperson said an adult male, who was not identified, was detained for causing property damage, including breaking exterior windows at a personal residence associated with the vice president, CNN said.
Vance said in a post on X that the damage appeared to have been caused by someone attempting to break in by striking the windows.
The suspect was being held on local trespassing and vandalism charges and will be interviewed by the Secret Service, which said it would pursue a federal investigation, CNN reported.
