Moroccan police have arrested 118 people as part of a nationwide crackdown on ticket touting and illegal resale during the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, authorities said.
Security services said the suspects were identified through a digital monitoring system that tracked online advertisements offering match tickets at inflated prices. Investigators followed up with technical inquiries and field operations, leading to arrests in several cities, particularly those hosting tournament matches.
According to officials, those detained are suspected of offences including illegal ticket sales, forgery and use of forged documents, fraud linked to the black market, cyber-related offences targeting electronic data systems, and the spread of false information related to the tournament.
Judicial investigations have been opened under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutors. Some suspects have been placed in custody, while others are being prosecuted without detention, depending on their level of involvement.
Authorities said the operations are part of broader efforts to protect fans, preserve public order and ensure fair access to stadiums during the tournament.
