With only days left before the close of Morocco’s annual voter registration review for the 2026 electoral rolls, opposition parties are raising concerns over weak outreach and technical issues affecting online registration.
Rachid Hammouni, a lawmaker from the Party of Progress and Socialism, submitted a written question to Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit citing communication gaps and access problems on the registration platform.
Jamal Assri, secretary general of the Unified Socialist Party, said registration levels remain low, blaming the absence of official awareness campaigns on public television and radio. He argued that authorities and political actors are reluctant to encourage new registrations, particularly among young voters whose political preferences are uncertain.
In response, Mohamed Chouki, a senior official of the National Rally of Independents, said registration is proceeding normally and that parties are continuing efforts to mobilize citizens before the deadline, dismissing concerns as unfounded.
