Brazil has completed sanitary negotiations with Morocco, allowing Brazilian hay used as animal feed to enter the Moroccan market, Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock said.
The ministry said Morocco, Iraq and Singapore approved imports of Brazilian hay, a key input for livestock supply chains that rely on steady feed availability.
The decision expands access for Brazilian agricultural products across Africa, Asia and South America.
Brazilian exports to the three destinations reached $3.8 billion last year, with Iraq the largest buyer at $1.78 billion, the ministry said. With the latest approvals, the number of foreign markets opened to Brazil’s farm sector since 2023 has risen to 525, reflecting coordination between the agriculture and foreign ministries.
The announcement comes as Brazil and Morocco explore deeper farm trade ties, including discussions on tariff reviews and expanded meat quotas. Morocco previously authorized duty free imports of Brazilian beef and goat meat to stabilize domestic supply amid drought pressures.
