Local authorities in Tinghir Province coordinated the transfer of students from the Ouzighmet district to the municipal center of Ait M’goun to allow classes to resume amid heavy snowfall and strong winds, officials said.
The operation was carried out as part of efforts to maintain essential public services despite harsh weather conditions that have complicated access to remote areas. Authorities said dense snow and strong winds posed challenges to intervention teams, which worked around the clock to ensure students could safely return to school.
Local officials said measures were taken to secure the students’ safety and to resume classes under suitable conditions. Residents were urged to avoid unnecessary travel due to the risk posed by severe weather and to follow safety instructions issued by authorities.
The area has experienced heavy snowfall for several days, disrupting traffic and access to villages. Local authorities, road services and municipal teams continue snow clearance operations and road reopening efforts, under the direct supervision of the provincial governor, who has carried out field visits to affected communities.
