Morocco and Turkey have reportedly completed negotiations on a list of agricultural products to be exported to Turkey as part of efforts to reduce the trade deficit that currently favors Ankara, according to Hespress AR sources familiar with the talks.
The sources said discussions proceeded smoothly and that the upcoming Moroccan-Turkish business forum, scheduled for late November in Istanbul, is expected to finalize the details.
Ankara is reportedly prepared to give priority to a number of Moroccan agricultural products in its market following consultations between the two countries. More than 200 business leaders from both sides are expected to attend the forum, where Morocco plans to present investment opportunities and incentives for foreign investors.
The Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development (COMADER) has participated in the negotiations, sources said.
Meetings were held with officials from Morocco’s agriculture, trade, and industry ministries, alongside other stakeholders, to prepare the product list and coordinate discussions through the joint Morocco-Turkey committee.
Sugar is among the main products Morocco is considering for export to Turkey.
The discussions fall under the Morocco-Turkey free trade agreement, in effect since 2004. In 2024, Morocco imported goods worth MAD 39 billion from Turkey, while its exports reached MAD 11.6 billion.
