Morocco issues urgent warning over “Acreed” spyware targeting users and companies
Monday 3 November 2025 - 17:23

Morocco’s Directorate General of Information Systems Security (DGSSI) has issued an urgent cybersecurity alert about a new spyware program called “Acreed”, classified as a critical threat to individuals and organizations.

According to the official bulletin published on October 29, the malware first appeared in February 2025 and has rapidly spread across criminal cyber forums.

DGSSI described Acreed as the third most active infostealer worldwide, responsible for about 17 percent of underground activity after Rhadamanthys and Lumma.

The spyware spreads mainly through phishing emails, malicious ads, and pirated software. Once installed, it steals personal data, browser passwords, cryptocurrency information, and cloud credentials such as Microsoft 365 and AWS accounts.

The national cybersecurity center, maCERT, urged users to update antivirus systems, monitor network traffic, and report incidents immediately.
