Ferry traffic between the Spanish port of Tarifa and Tangier City was suspended Wednesday afternoon because of strong winds sweeping the Strait of Gibraltar, according to port authorities in Algeciras Bay. The affected sailings, scheduled between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m., were canceled as maritime conditions deteriorated.
Services between Algeciras and Tangier Med port continue to operate normally, the same source said. The Spanish meteorological agency forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms along the Cádiz coast through midnight.
Local outlet Tanja24 reported that ferry operators are monitoring weather developments before resuming crossings, as wind speeds in the strait remain high and visibility poor. Regular operations are expected to resume once conditions stabilize.
