The Ambassador of the Union of the Comoros to Morocco, Yahya Mohamed Elias, praised on Friday in Settat the growing support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces, as well as for the serious and credible autonomy plan proposed by the Kingdom.
The diplomat highlighted the relevance of Morocco’s foreign policy under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, commending the efforts made by the Kingdom to achieve a final settlement to the artificial dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
In a statement to MAP on the sidelines of the opening of the 6th edition of the International Festival of African Heritage, Elias recalled that the Union of the Comoros was among the first countries to open a Consulate General in Laâyoune (December 2019).
Praising the excellence of relations between Morocco and the Comoros, he emphasized the central role played by the Kingdom in fostering rapprochement among African nations.
Morocco’s organization of the International Festival of African Heritage exemplifies these efforts, as well as the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and solidarity among African peoples, he added.
The two-day festival, held under the theme “African Brothers: Different Heritages,” features a series of artistic performances, intellectual conferences, and cultural activities, with the participation of delegations from several African countries, including Morocco, Togo, Guinea, Niger, Mali, and the Comoros.
