Saudi football club Al Hilal has extended the contract of Moroccan international goalkeeper Yassine Bounou until 2028, the club announced Thursday.
In a post on its official X account, Al Hilal confirmed the renewal with a short video of Bounou accompanied by the caption, “Al Hilal’s goal is safe until 2028.”
The extension is part of Al Hilal’s broader strategy to retain key players and maintain both technical and administrative stability in the coming years. The club is also negotiating new deals with several major players, including Sergej Milinković-Savić and Rúben Neves.
Since joining Al Hilal from Spain’s Sevilla in the summer of 2023 for around €21 million, Bounou has played 99 matches, totaling nearly 8,947 minutes, conceding 94 goals and keeping 38 clean sheets.
Bounou has been instrumental in Al Hilal’s recent success, helping the team secure four trophies, including the King’s Cup, two Saudi Super Cups, and the Saudi Pro League title. He also played a key role in the club’s run to the quarterfinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper, who also stars for Morocco’s national team, is widely regarded as one of the top goalkeepers in both African and Asian football.
