More than 3.2 million passengers and nearly 739,000 vehicles passed through Moroccan ports between June 10 and September 15 as part of the “Marhaba 2025” operation, said the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, on Wednesday in Rabat.
These figures represent an increase of 7% in passengers and 6% in vehicles compared to 2024, Kayouh emphasized during a meeting with Moroccan and foreign shipping companies and national port authorities, dedicated to reviewing the maritime transport aspect of the “Marhaba 2025” operation.
He stated that the ministry had set up 13 maritime routes linking the four Moroccan passenger ports (Tanger-Med, Tanger-ville, Nador, and Al Hoceima) with nine European ports (Algeciras, Tarifa, Almeria, Motril, Marseille, Sète, Barcelona, Genoa, and Civitavecchia).
It also mobilized 29 vessels operated by seven shipping companies, providing over 500 weekly crossings with a maximum capacity of 500,000 passengers and 130,000 vehicles.
In this context, Kayouh reviewed the various measures taken by the ministry to ensure the success of this operation, particularly those related to the compliance of the vessels involved with national and international standards—especially regarding maritime safety and security—the monitoring of the quality of services provided on board, the supervision of crossing fares, and the implementation of a mandatory advance ticket reservation system for all maritime routes.
For the first time, access to the port of Tanger-Med was only allowed with a valid same-day travel ticket, he noted.
