Morocco’s national ombudsman has launched a new program aimed at improving public administration, with its inaugural edition dedicated to the country’s public health system.
The initiative, called the “Public Service Governance Forums,” was announced Thursday by the Office of the Ombudsman of the Kingdom. Officials said the program is designed to bring together young people, civil society organizations, experts and administrators to generate recommendations for strengthening governance and enhancing the quality of public services.
The forums will unfold through a series of open meetings, listening sessions and workshops held at national, regional and local levels, in partnership with youth associations and civic groups. A parallel digital platform will also collect proposals, ideas and experiences specifically related to governance in the health sector and its interaction with citizens.
The ombudsman’s office, created under Morocco’s constitution as an independent body tasked with defending citizens’ rights in their dealings with the administration, said the forums fall within its mandate to promote administrative governance and contribute to democratic development.
Officials added that the effort builds on the office’s recent “Equality Administration” program, which engaged civic and rights groups in consultations last month. The aim, they said, is to institutionalize participatory dialogue around public policy challenges.
