A hacker group has threatened to leak sensitive data from major corporations after breaching Oracle’s E-Business Suite, a core system used to manage finance, supply chains and customer relations.
Cybersecurity firm Halcyon, which is handling the incident, said the group is demanding a ransom of up to 50 million dollars. The hackers, claiming links to the criminal collective “C10p,” provided screenshots and file lists as proof of access to compromised systems.
Halcyon’s ransomware research vice president Cynthia Kaiser told Bloomberg the group is known for stealing data covertly and at scale, giving it leverage in ransom negotiations.
Google’s head of cybercrime prevention, Genevieve Stark, said ransom emails began circulating September 29, sent from hundreds of hacked accounts and citing stolen files. She noted spelling and grammar errors typical of C10p operations.
It remains unclear which firms were targeted or whether any have agreed to pay.
