Morocco’s foreign-currency tourism revenues reached a record MAD 87.6 billion ($8.5 billion) in the first eight months of 2025, up 14% from the same period a year earlier, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy said.

August was the strongest month ever for tourism revenues, generating MAD 19.1 billion ($1.9 billion), a 13% increase from August 2024, the ministry said in a press release.

The growth was driven by a surge in arrivals, with 13.5 million tourists visiting Morocco from January through August, up 15% from a year earlier, the same source added.

Quoted in the press release, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, said that the results highlight the sector’s critical role in Morocco’s economy.

“As a key provider of foreign currency, the sector contributes directly to national growth dynamics. We remain committed to strengthening and accelerating this trajectory,” Ammor said.
