Hakimi calls rape allegation a ‘lie,’ says he is ‘at peace’

Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi has broken his silence after French prosecutors requested he stand trial on rape charges, dismissing the allegations as a “lie” and insisting he remains “at peace.”

In an interview with Canal+’s Clique, the 26-year-old Paris Saint-Germain defender said: “I know that what I was accused of is false. I know I did nothing, and I would never do such a thing.”

Hakimi, who responded in Spanish, stressed that he has “always been available to the police” and hopes “the truth will emerge soon.”

The case stems from accusations by a young woman who said she was assaulted at Hakimi’s home in February 2023 after meeting him on Instagram.

Prosecutors in Nanterre asked in August that he be referred to a regional criminal court, though the final decision rests with an investigating judge.

The accuser’s lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo, rejected Hakimi’s claims of attempted extortion, calling them “a familiar tactic in sexual violence cases.”
