Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests has issued a new ruling that eases the ban on slaughtering female sheep and goats.
The restriction will now only apply to animals “in a visible state of pregnancy.”
This new decision, issued by Minister Ahmed El Bouaari, replaces a previous, more restrictive ban enacted on March 19, 2025.
The Ministry stated that the change was based on the results of a recent national livestock census conducted between June 26 and August 11, 2025, as well as the opinions of industry professionals.
The ruling is part of the ministry’s regulatory actions and aligns with existing legal frameworks related to controlling livestock populations.
