The father of Spanish international and Barcelona star Lamine Yamal reacted angrily after his son missed out on the 2025 Ballon d’Or, awarded Monday night in Paris to French forward Ousmane Dembélé of Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Spanish daily Marca, Mounir Nasraoui stopped briefly in the press area reserved for Spanish journalists, telling them, “Next year is ours,” shortly after the announcement. His frustration grew minutes later during a live video call with Spanish TV program El Chiringuito, where he said: “I think it’s the worst… I won’t call it theft, but a moral harm to a human being.”
Defending his son’s case, Nasraoui insisted Yamal was “undoubtedly the best player in the world, and by far…not because he is my son, but because he is the best.” He concluded by saying: “Something very strange happened here… Next year the Ballon d’Or will be Spanish.”
