Tourism operators in Morocco’s Merzouga region expect October and November to mark a “golden season” for desert tourism, with rising bookings and growing demand for activities such as rallies and quad biking, Hespress reported.
Ali Oubassidi, a local operator, said the return of mild weather will make Merzouga a preferred destination for visitors seeking sand dunes and tranquility, while November is also projected to sustain momentum through locally driven initiatives.
He noted that infrastructure upgrades remain urgent, with road tracks and rally routes damaged by last season’s heavy rains, hampering smooth tourist flows.
Lahcen Bouchdour, another tourism actor, stressed that desert operators have built experience in tailoring services to domestic and international visitors, combining hospitality with authentic cultural depth.
He underlined that desert camps, riads and guesthouses reflect local heritage in architecture, cuisine and activities, creating an integrated offer that positions Merzouga as a unique driver of local development and Moroccan desert identity.
