Morocco secured its place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Friday after defeating Niger 5-0 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The Atlas Lions dominated from the outset under coach Walid Regragui. Niger was reduced to 10 men in the 27th minute after Abdellatif Goumai received a second yellow card. Two minutes later, Ismael Saibari broke the deadlock with a goal assisted by Youssef Belamri, before doubling the lead in the 38th minute.
Ayoub El Kaabi extended Morocco’s advantage in the 51st minute, while substitute Hamza Igamane added the fourth in the 69th. Azzedine Ounahi sealed the victory with an 84th-minute strike.
The win lifted Morocco to 18 points, eight clear of second-place Tanzania, ensuring early qualification for the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
