The 164th session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates was held on Monday in Cairo, with Morocco taking part.
The Kingdom was represented at this session, held at the General Secretariat of the League, by a delegation led by Morocco’s Ambassador to Cairo and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Ait Ouali.
The delegation also included the Head of the Division of Arab and Islamic Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Younes Nejjar, as well as Morocco’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Hicham Ould Sallay.
This session comes ahead of the meeting of Arab foreign ministers scheduled for next Thursday.
The agenda includes consideration of a series of crucial Arab issues, in particular the latest developments regarding the Palestinian cause, efforts to secure recognition of the State of Palestine, ways to put an end to the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, and reconstruction plans.
It also covers the latest developments in the Arab region, including in Sudan, Yemen, Syria, Libya, Lebanon, and Somalia, as well as mechanisms to address current regional challenges in order to strengthen Arab national security and safeguard common strategic interests.
The session also addressed issues relating to Arab economic and social cooperation, notably support for the Palestinian economy and strengthening economic integration among Arab countries, with a view to submitting recommendations and decisions to the ministerial meeting for adoption as part of a comprehensive Arab vision aimed at reinforcing joint Arab action in the face of regional and international challenges.
