Kenyan outlets were quick to hail the Atlas Lions’ CHAN triumph on Sunday, following their 3-1 win over Madagascar, praising it as a milestone that reinforces Morocco’s standing in African football.

The Star daily hailed the triumph as a “historic” achievement for Moroccan football, noting that the Atlas Lions have now made history as three-time CHAN champions. The outlet also underscored the players’ resilience, which shaped their performance and cemented their landmark status in African football.

The Standard, for its part, highlighted Morocco’s “football supremacy” during a tournament that brings together the best talent from local leagues. According to the paper, this third title upholds Morocco’s status as one of the most successful nations in CHAN history.

Meanwhile, Citizen emphasized the Atlas Lions’ tenacity, which enabled them to secure their place in the annals of African football, noting that Morocco has become the first nation to win the CHAN three times — a feat described as a turning point for the competition.

Morocco’s local national team of local players clinched their third CHAN title on Saturday after defeating Madagascar 3-2 at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, Nairobi.

The Atlas Lions, crowned in 2018 and 2020, secured the win thanks to goals from Youssef Mehri (27’) and Oussama Lamlaoui (44’, 80’), who struck twice — including a stunning match-winner from midfield.
