The Spanish Civil Guard in Ceuta announced Wednesday the recovery of the body of a migrant found floating off the enclave’s coastline.
Local media, citing the Civil Guard, reported that the young man was wearing a diving suit, suggesting he attempted to reach Ceuta by swimming across the sea.
The body was transferred to the morgue of the University Hospital in Ceuta, where authorities will conduct procedures to establish his identity and determine whether he was of Moroccan origin or another nationality.
According to the same sources, the discovery brings to 21 the number of migrant bodies retrieved along the coast of Ceuta since the beginning of the year.
