After several hours of coordinated rescue efforts, teams from Civil Protection, the Royal Gendarmerie, and Auxiliary Forces, in collaboration with employees of the mining company, successfully recovered the body of a worker who had been trapped under rubble following a rockfall at the Imider silver mine in Tinghir Province. The body was transferred to the morgue.
The incident occurred on Friday morning when two workers employed by Imider Mining Company were caught in a sudden rock collapse. One of the workers was rescued earlier and taken to the hospital for urgent medical care. His condition is reported to be critical.
An investigation into the cause of the collapse is expected, as concerns over worker safety in Morocco’s mining sector continue to mount.
