The Kingdom’s Ombudsman institution handled 7,948 cases in 2024, reflecting a steady increase in public reliance on the body for administrative fairness, according to its annual report submitted to King Mohammed VI.
Grievances made up 72 percent of all cases, followed by guidance requests (27 percent) and settlement demands (0.14 percent). Most concerned administrative (2,325), financial (1,761), and property-related issues (926).
The report notes that 99 percent of applicants were Moroccan nationals, with only 53 foreign mediation requests recorded. Over 83 percent of submissions came from individuals, not groups or institutions.
The Ministry of Interior topped the list of concerned sectors, followed by Justice, Finance, and Tourism.
The report highlighted challenges in accessing administrative information, timely responses, and justice, while citing the successful resolution of disputes between medical school applicants and the state as a notable 2024 milestone.
