Kazakhstan media warns of scammers posing as stranded Moroccans in growing street fraud scheme

A growing street scam in Kazakhstan has raised concern among citizens and media outlets as organized groups of fake beggars claim to be stranded foreigners especially Moroccans in need of urgent help.

These scammers target busy areas in Almaty using made up stories to gain sympathy and money.

The report says scammers often appear in commercial areas  and shopping centers claiming to have lost their money or passports and asking for help to get to the airport or pay for a hotel.

Many pretend to be Moroccans speaking broken Russian or fake Arabic dialects and refuse to show any ID when asked.

Local witnesses say these individuals repeat the same story across different locations and often have no accent that matches the nationality they claim.

The investigation suggests it is a well coordinated network using emotional manipulation for financial gain.

Some also pose as nationals from other countries like Sweden or the UK using identical excuses about theft or blocked bank cards. The report urges the public to request identification verify travel details and use translation apps before offering help.

Social media users and locals have shared similar encounters warning others not to fall for what is increasingly seen as a professional scam operation.
