French authorities raided Nestlé SA’s local headquarters near Paris on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into the company’s use of unauthorized filtration methods in its bottled mineral water production.
The DGCCRF confirmed the inspections, which follow a complaint filed by consumer advocacy group Foodwatch targeting Nestlé and its bottled water division, Nestlé Waters.
The probe centers on the use of prohibited treatments such as charcoal and UV filtering, methods not allowed under strict mineral water regulations in France.
Nestlé acknowledged the searches and reiterated its cooperation with the authorities.
The Swiss food giant has faced mounting scrutiny after admitting last year to using these filtration techniques.
It has since claimed that Perrier, one of its flagship mineral water brands, is now fully compliant with French regulatory standards.
