Morocco and Turkey signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on Friday in Istanbul, on the sidelines of the Global Forum for Transport Connectivity, focusing on road safety and maritime corridor development.
Moroccan Transport Minister Abdessamad Kayouh, alongside his Turkish counterpart Abdulkadir Uraloglu, formalized the deals in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to Turkey, Mohamed Ali Lazrak. Kayouh highlighted the first MoU’s focus on technological cooperation in road safety, noting Morocco’s interest in Turkey’s expertise in secure freight transport.
The second MoU aligns with Morocco’s efforts to strengthen its national maritime fleet, in line with King Mohammed VI’s directives from the Green March anniversary. Turkey’s experience in shipbuilding and maritime logistics was emphasized as a model.
Minister Uraloglu praised Morocco’s infrastructure and energy projects and expressed Turkey’s readiness to support Morocco’s maritime strategy through joint investments in shipyards.
The forum gathered global leaders to discuss international transport corridor development and optimization.
