TikTok hosted Thursday a special edition of its “Family Academy” initiative in Casablanca to help Moroccan families engage more safely and mindfully in the digital world.
The event brought together experts to discuss how parents and teens can better navigate online challenges together.
The central panel, titled “Empowering families to navigate the online world together,” featured psychotherapist Myriam Bahri, Dr. Youssef Bentaleb, president of the Moroccan Center for Polytechnic Research and Innovation, and media literacy consultant Myriam Ezzakhrajy.
Discussions addressed concerns such as screen time, cyberbullying, and effective communication between parents and teens.
The initiative also introduced over 15 new safety features, including Time Away, allowing parents to schedule screen breaks, Wind Down Mode to encourage rest after 10 PM, and new Privacy Controls that enable parents to monitor interactions on their teen’s account.
The existing Family Pairing tool was also updated with customizable screen time limits.
Dr. Bentaleb praised the initiative as a timely step in fostering a more informed digital culture. Ezzakhrajy emphasized media literacy as a shared civic duty, calling for educational outreach beyond the classroom.
TikTok also spotlighted its global STEM Feed, which promotes educational content in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to users in over 100 countries.
With Family Academy, TikTok aims to build stronger, more informed connections between parents and teens, rooted in digital safety, trust, and constructive dialogue.
