Wydad Casablanca faces Al-Ain FC today, Thursday, June 26, at Audi Field in Washington, in their final match of the FIFA Club World Cup (Group G).
Both teams have already been eliminated after suffering two losses each, Wydad fell to Manchester City (2-0) and Juventus (4-1), while Al-Ain lost heavily to Juve (5-0) and City (6-0).
The match is crucial not only to salvage pride but also for financial reasons: the winner earns a $2 million bonus, while a draw grants $1 million to each side, on top of a $9.5 million participation fee.
Wydad’s preparations were disrupted by a traffic accident involving several team members, including coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem, who is unlikely to be on the bench. His assistants will lead the squad, which may see lineup changes.
The match kicks off at 20:00 (Moroccan time)
