The digital future of Marrakech’s ancient fortifications takes center stage on June 13th, as a key seminar series on heritage preservation concludes with a showcase of innovative research and cutting-edge technologies.
This closing event specifically aims to demonstrate how advanced digital models can be applied to understand, manage, and enhance historical sites. It particularly frames the digital evolution of Marrakech’s iconic fortifications as a crucial bridge connecting the past with future conservation efforts.
Throughout its run, the series has convened esteemed speakers and scientific committee members from various universities and institutions, all exploring new paradigms for architectural and historical heritage.
Attendees will get an exclusive look at the research and design works developed by graduating and other students during the 2024-2025 academic year. These projects prominently feature the theme, ‘Towards the Digital Twin of Marrakech’s Fortifications,’ demonstrating practical applications of these cutting-edge technologies.
This ambitious initiative is a collaborative effort, jointly promoted by ENAM (École Nationale d’Architecture Marrakech) and DdA (Dipartimento di Architettura Pescara).
The student projects will be discussed by Dr. Mariana Minascurta from Wisetown, a company specializing in Digital Twin development. Her expert insights will illuminate the potential of these digital solutions for safeguarding and valorizing global heritage.
