A senior commander of the Polisario Front, known as the leader of the group’s so-called Sixth Military Region, was killed Monday in a precision drone strike carried out by the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces near the town of Mahbes, close to the berm wall.
According to multiple sources, the commander was targeted while traveling in a military vehicle loaded with Grad-type rockets. The vehicle was reportedly preparing to enter the buffer zone to carry out a hostile operation when it was destroyed by a Moroccan drone strike, killing all occupants on board.
This marks the fourth high-ranking Polisario military figure killed in recent weeks, underscoring what sources describe as a continued collapse in the separatist group’s command structure in the face of Morocco’s heightened military vigilance.
Sources say the strike reflects the Royal Armed Forces’ high level of preparedness and operational precision in neutralizing cross-border threats aimed at destabilizing the region.
The incident highlights growing tensions in the buffer zones adjacent to Morocco’s defensive wall in the Sahara, where sporadic clashes between Moroccan forces and Polisario militants have flared in recent years.
