The Tangier Appeals Court’s juvenile chamber sentenced five minors over the killing of a student outside Omar Ibn Abdelaziz school in the Dradeb neighborhood last November.
Three minors were each given eight years, while Y.S. and S.B. received five years each. The closed-door hearing cleared them of “failing to assist a person in danger” but convicted them of “participation in assault leading to death without intent, using a bladed weapon,” under articles 403, 303, and 129 of the penal code.
The court also ordered the minors’ guardians to pay MAD 200,000 in civil damages to the victim’s family. Combined with the earlier 20-year sentence for the 18-year-old ringleader, total prison time now reaches 54 years.
The stabbing, sparked by a street fight, was widely circulated in disturbing social media videos.
