Morocco maintained its status among the world’s top pepper exporters in 2024, according to a new report from agricultural market specialist Hortoinfo.
The country ranked fourth globally in export volume, shipping 266.47 million kilograms of peppers last year. Mexico led the market with a 28.54% share (1,182.57 million kg), followed by Spain (19.83%, or 821.67 million kg), and the Netherlands (421.82 million kg).
Other key exporters included China (198.01 million kg), Canada (190.18 million kg), and Turkey (165.25 million kg). In revenue terms, Morocco ranked fifth worldwide, generating €389.72 million.
Mexico again topped the chart with €1.94 billion, ahead of Spain (€1.57 billion), the Netherlands (€1.05 billion), and Canada (€550.55 million).
Morocco outpaced larger economies such as the U.S. (€355.34 million), Turkey (€240.47 million), and China (€209.26 million).
