Seven ferry services canceled between Tarifa and Tangier due to storm Nuria
Friday 4 April 2025 - 11:07

Seven ferry services scheduled for Friday between the Spanish port of Tarifa and the city of Tangier were canceled due to the impact of storm Nuria, which has been affecting Spain since Wednesday.

The cancellations were caused by strong winds and high waves disrupting maritime traffic.

The Bay of Algeciras Port Authority announced that all sailings between 12:00 PM and 9:00 PM were canceled in response to warnings issued by the Spanish meteorological agency. The Spanish National Meteorological Agency (AEMET) issued a yellow-level warning starting at 5:00 PM, due to strong southwesterly winds reaching speeds of 50 to 61 km/h, along with waves that could reach up to five meters.

Despite these challenging weather conditions, the Tarifa port remains operational for ferry connections with the Tangier Med port and the occupied city of Ceuta.

Authorities have maintained the first scheduled departure for Saturday at 9:00 AM, depending on the weather conditions.
