Morocco was unanimously elected on Wednesday to preside over the 57th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development.
This election reflects the confidence of member states in Morocco’s leadership and its commitment to fostering dynamic and inclusive economic governance across the African continent.
The 57th session, held under the theme “Advancing the Implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement: A Proposal for Transformative Strategic Actions,” will also address key issues such as digitalization, technology, food security, and energy transition.
The session commenced with an Experts’ Meeting from March 12 to 14, followed by parallel events on March 15 and 16. The ministerial meeting is set to take place on March 17 and 18, where high-level discussions will shape Africa’s economic policies and strategies.
