Moroccan security forces and customs officials at the Beni Ansar border crossing intercepted an attempt to smuggle 5,180 psychotropic pills on Monday evening, arresting a 29-year-old suspect linked to an international drug trafficking network.

The man was detained upon entering Morocco from the Spanish enclave of Melilla on foot. A search revealed the illicit pills hidden under his clothing.

Authorities have placed the suspect under judicial investigation, supervised by the public prosecutor’s office. The probe aims to uncover additional details about the smuggling operation, identify other individuals involved, and determine the network’s broader reach.
