Aprivate fuel distribution company in Morocco and Royal Air Maroc launched Thursday the first-ever carbon-free flight between Morocco and Europe, powered by sustainable aviation fuel.
The flight, operating on the Marrakesh-Paris route, was aboard a Boeing 737 NG, with 151 passengers on board. It departed from Marrakesh Menara Airport at 4:20 PM, bound for Paris Orly, with a flight time of three hours.
This initiative underscores the commitment of both companies to a more sustainable aviation sector in Morocco, contributing to responsible tourism as the kingdom becomes a top destination in Africa.
This flight marks a significant step in a strategic partnership between the two companies to accelerate energy transition in air transport. The flight also strengthens Morocco’s leadership in using sustainable fuel in Africa.
As part of European regulations set for 2025, airlines must use at least 2% sustainable aviation fuel, making this initiative timely and forward-thinking.
